Like Cursor, Windsurf mixes its own backend with upstream model providers; either layer can be the failure.
The status page lists Netlify components — build pipeline, edge network, hosted DNS — right beside Windsurf's own. Only Cascade and Windsurf Tab describe your editor; the board above filters the rest out.
What Windsurf's incident history actually looks like
Windsurf's status page has gone quiet. The most recent incident in its public feed started on 26 May 2026, which was 81 days before we pulled the feed on 16 August. Nothing has been posted since.
Silence is ambiguous, so read it carefully. It can mean the product settled down, or it can mean fewer people are updating the page. It lines up with the Cognition transition that turned Windsurf into Devin Desktop, so we would not treat a quiet board here as proof of uptime the way we would for Anthropic's.
The older record still tells you what breaks. Across the 50 incidents in the feed, which reach back to April 2025, Cascade was named in 28 and Windsurf Tab in 13 — the agent and the completions, in that order. Median resolution was 109 minutes and half the incidents ran past two hours, slower than either Cursor or Copilot.

Is Windsurf down, or is it just you?
- Check the date on the board before you trust it. A page with no incidents for weeks is a weaker signal than a page that posts constantly, and this one has been quiet since May 2026.
- Cascade and Windsurf Tab fail separately. The agent dying while completions keep firing is normal here, and it narrows the problem for you.
- A Netlify row going red on that page is not your editor. Those components belong to a different service and say nothing about whether Cascade will answer.
- Sign-in trouble deserves its own look: authentication problems show up repeatedly in the older record, including one that ran nearly fifteen hours. If the editor loads but nothing authenticates, that is a known shape rather than a local mistake.
What to do while Windsurf is down
- Switch models first — Windsurf Pro exposes several providers, and upstream incidents usually hit one.
- Local editing, git, and terminals are unaffected by backend outages — only AI features stop.
- If the board is green and stale, test with one small Cascade request rather than trusting the page. Cheaper than debugging your own setup for an hour.
