There are now dozens of AI tools aimed at developers, and every one of them promises to change how you work. Most of the "reviews" you find when you go looking are rewritten press releases or affiliate pages written by people who never opened the product. We built DevAI Reviews to be the opposite of that: a place that actually runs these tools on real code and tells you what we found. DevAI Reviews is an independent publication based in Uruguay.

What we cover

We focus on AI tools built for software engineers — coding assistants, code-review and testing tools, documentation helpers, and the models underneath them. If something claims to make developers faster, our job is to figure out whether it really does. Our work falls into three buckets:

• Reviews — hands-on verdicts on a single tool: what it does well, where it gets in your way, and whether it earns its monthly fee.
• Comparisons — head-to-head breakdowns so you don't have to trial five products to choose one.
• Guides — practical setup and how-to articles for getting these tools into your real workflow.

How we test

We use the tools the way you would: in a real editor, on real projects, against real codebases — not staged demos. We note the version and the price at the time we tested, because this space moves fast and a review can go stale in weeks. When we haven't put something through its paces ourselves yet, we say so and stick to what the docs and specs actually claim until we have.

How an article gets made

Our process is the same for every piece: we research the tool against primary sources (official docs, changelogs, pricing pages), draft the article — sometimes with help from AI tools for research and structure — then fact-check and edit it by hand before publishing. We explain this in full in our editorial policy.

Our standards

• Honesty over hype. If a tool is mediocre, we say so. A glowing verdict you can't trust is worth nothing to you and nothing to us.
• No pay-to-play. A company can't buy a better score. Nobody gets to review or approve a piece before we publish it.
• We show our work. Screenshots, version numbers, and the conditions we tested under, so you can judge whether our experience matches yours.
• We fix mistakes. Get something wrong and we'll correct it, and note that we did. You can always reach us through our contact page.

How we make money

DevAI Reviews is free to read. We cover the cost of running the site through display advertising and, where it's relevant, affiliate links — if you buy a tool through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes a verdict. We recommend tools because they're good, not because they pay the most.
